The November 3 midterm elections are crucially important to our future. The success of the “Blue Wave” depends on each of us voting and encouraging others to vote. To practice “the art of thoughtful voting”!
It’s not just about the tightrope votes for Congress in the swing states, but about having massive participation in voting at all levels, wherever you are. A large voter turnout will show that our democracy can work, that voting matters, and that people are committed.
People trust their friends, peers, co-workers and the influencers they follow more than they do politicians and institutions. Ideas spread relationally.
So here’s the simple but powerful approach: help create a ripple effect through your own thoughtful voting and reaching out to others.
FIVE ACTIONS YOU CAN TAKE
(1) Have your own plan for voting worked out (Check https://www.vote.org/ for logistical information for any state in the country).
(2) Vote early if you can. This helps show enthusiasm and hedge against election day voter interference. Find early voting information at https://www.vote.org/early-voting-calendar/.
(3) Understand the candidates and ballot measures you’re voting on. Look for analysis, recommendations and endorsements by organizations you trust. Discuss the choices with your friends and family. If you’re in California, with our 14 propositions to vote on, see the endorsements by the League of Women Voters at https://lwvc.org/ballot-recommendations/ and Swing Left Peninsula at https://swingleftpeninsula.org/home/vote_2026/
(4) Forward this post to everyone you know! Attach a few words of your own for greater impact. Ask your recipients to forward it too.
(5) Look for ways you can contribute to getting us over the finish line

Just talk up voting among people you know. You might assume everyone votes but without a little peer pressure, it’s easy to skip voting! Talk to three people and ask them to talk to three. Gets exponential pretty fast!

If you’re in the East Bay of the SF Bay Area, find actions by signing up for Together We Will Albany Berkeley’s at https://twwab.org or Indivisible East Bay at https://indivisibleeb.org/
-
If you’re in a swing state or district, sign up for Neighbor2Neighbor to talk with 10 of your own neighbors about voting: https://2026.indivisible.org/n2n/
-
If you’re in Alaska, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, and Texas, volunteer with the Election Defense Corps to protect the right to vote in this election: https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/916480/

And of course, if you can. . . donate to key campaigns and organizations you value that are working towards the “Blue Wave” – it’s never too late.
