Citizen Joy! is Getting Out The Vote
Democracy is a beautiful thing—it’s the power of our voices coming together to shape the future. By registering to vote, you’re taking a joyful step toward participating in something bigger than any one of us: our collective decision to build a better tomorrow.
By registering to vote, you’re embracing the privilege we all share: the power to shape our communities, our country, and our future.
We’ve added Vote.org’s award-winning technology to our site, joining a nationwide movement to increase voter turnout. Vote.org tools are here to simplify the entire process and ensure that your community is heard loud and clear in every election.
Citizen Joy is a celebration of democracy focused on agency, harmony, and gratitude. Citizen Joy is a national coalition of artists and arts organizations from all disciplines that are using art to cut through the doom and gloom about politics, explore what we have (and could lose) as citizens, and energize people to do what they can to protect our democratic rights and freedoms.
The Citizen Joy! Project requests your creative expression inspired by the following Three Questions:
Gratitude
What does government do that brings you joy?
Agency
What choices do you get to make that are dear to your heart?
Harmony
When do you feel in harmony with your fellow citizens?
On July 27th, the Citizen Joy! Project launched nationwide with performances by artists who have interpreted the above 3 questions. YOU can participate! We open the stage for all expressions of joy about our democracy. Subscribe! Like and follow our social media. Participate! It’s YOUR democracy! “We are thinking very hard about emerging needs in democracy and how things have changed. In a moment where communication among citizens is so important, art has an important role to play…”
